Tender number NS26-0223
AGRN1258 Secondary and Local Roads Emergency Reinstatement - Reform, Recompact and Gravel Resheet - Sandover Highway - CH216.58 to CH517.50
SCOPE OF WORS:
The scope of works includes, but is not limited to, the reformation, conditioning and recompacting of the existing pavement using existing batter material where suitable, or imported material where insufficient suitable material exists, this includes reinstalment of existing drains and reconstruction of drainage blocks, followed by gravel resheeting of reconstructed sections identified within the attached data sheet. The works shall be undertaken in accordance with NT Government Standard Drawing CS-3609 and include:
- Sourcing, extraction, screening, blending, or processing of compliant gravel materials.
- Supply and transport of compliant base course material.
- Extraction, transport, and application of water for construction activities.
- Reformation of the existing road formation.
- Conditioning and recompacting of the pavement.
- Gravel resheeting of nominated sections
- Finishing and trimming to the specified crossfall and pavement geometry.
Pavement Construction Requirements
Prepare the formation by ripping, shaping, Conditioning, and compacting to reform the existing
pavement to an 8.0-meter formation with suitable outer batter material in accordance with Drawing CS3609. Construct a 200 mm compacted gravel base course over the prepared formation to achieve:
• 8.0 metre Gravel pavement width.
• 4% crossfall.
• Pavement geometry in accordance with Drawing CS-3609.
Reformation, Conditioning and Recompaction
- Grade the full road formation width in accordance with Drawing CS-3609, extending between the tops of both outer batters.
- Remove vegetation from all areas requiring grading and dispose of vegetation beyond the outer batter limits.
- Recover suitable material from existing outer batter windrows and the area extending to the pavement shoulder for reuse within the pavement.
- Ensure recovered material is free from vegetation, organic matter, and other deleterious
materials. - Cut the existing pavement and shoulders to remove corrugations, ruts, potholes, and depressions. Spread and blend recovered material uniformly across the pavement and shoulders to achieve the standard pavement profile shown on Drawing CS-3609, including an 8.0 metre carriageway width.
- Moisture conditions the material to achieve optimum moisture content prior to compaction.
• Compact the reconstructed pavement and trim to produce a smooth, tightly bound finished surface free from ridges or irregularities.
Gravel Resheet
- obtain gravel from approved naturally occurring deposits and process the material by crushing, screening, blending or other approved methods necessary to achieve the specified material properties.
- ensure all gravel is durable, well graded, tightly binding, and free from organic matter or other deleterious materials.
- Load, haul, and place conforming gravel onto the reconstructed pavement.
- Construct a 200 mm compacted gravel base course over an 8.0 metre pavement width.
- Moisture condition, compact and trim the pavement to achieve;
• Minimum 98% MMDD.
• 4% crossfall.
• Construct the standard cross-section detailed on Drawing CS-3609.
Roads and Material Sources
- The Contractor shall be responsible for the maintenance of all haul roads, side tracks, gravel extraction areas, and water extraction points used during construction,
- Maintenance shall include watering, grading, and any other activities necessary to prevent deterioration of these routes. Any damage or non-conforming sections resulting from construction activities shall be repaired by the Contractor at their own cost to the satisfaction of the Superintendent
