Provision of Compounding Services for NT Hospitals for a Period of 36 Months

The Department of Health has a requirement for the provision of a pharmacy compounding service to meet the specific needs of patients under the care of Northern Territory Government hospitals. The Contractor must establish a freight model for regular delivery to Royal Darwin and Palmerston Hospital, Alice Springs Hospital and Katherine Hospital. Delivery for Gove District Hospital may be required. 

The Tender will be awarded based on Categories

·       Category 1: Immunomodulators and Antineoplastic (Patient-specific & Non-Specific - TGA licensed)

·       Category 2: Anti-Infective and Other (Patient-specific & Non-Specific - TGA licensed)

·       Category 3: Parenteral Nutrition (Patient-specific & Non-Specific - TGA licensed)

·       Category 4: NT based TGA exempt (Patient-Specific)

The Department will consider TGA exempt suppliers for the submitted products that will be manufactured in a compounding facility located within the Northern Territory. All interstate suppliers must be TGA licensed with conditions of their license applicable to the products they submit. Combined Tender submissions of a TGA licensed and TGA exempt suppliers will not be considered.

In addition to specified assessment criteria the following will be key considerations for this tender:

·         Longer shelf life of compounded products from interstate suppliers

·         Supply chain and delivery arrangements to ensure surety of supply

·         Cold chain monitoring with evidence for relevant products

·         Contingency/Risk Management plans should the main compounding facility be unavailable.

·         Protection of the environment

Estimated value is $30M - $50M for the initial contract period.
