Darwin Region - Darwin Municipality - Supply and Installation of Electronic Speed Check Signs - Various Locations
City of Darwin in collaboration with the Department of Infrastructure, Planning and Logistics are undertaking the supply and installation of 20 electronic speed check signs at 11 schools within the Darwin Municipality.
Electronic speed check signs are electronic devices that measure speed and display the speed at which vehicles are travelling. They are be programmable to display a “slow down” message when the set speed is exceeded. Speed check signs have proven to be effective as a traffic-calming device especially around high-risk areas such as school crossings.
A general outline of the work to be carried out under the Contract comprises of:
- Transport / pick-up 14 fully assembled electronic speed check signs ready for installation (principle supplied).
- Supply of 6 new fully assembled electronic speed check signs ready for installation.
- Installation of 20 electronic speed check signs at various locations within the Darwin Municipality, surrounding 11 NT schools.
- Programing of 20 electronic speed check signs to City of Darwin’s requirements.
- Training of City of Darwin staff members on usage and maintenance requirements for the electronic speed check signs.
