Darwin Region - Melville Island - Upgrade and Seal Paru Road CH 4.0KM to CH 12.3KM Including Barge Access Road
The upgrade and seal of Paru Road from CH 4km to the barge landing area.
The works include earthworks, pavement, drainage and protection works, sealing and pavement marking to upgrade the remainder of Paru Road to a sealed standard.
The road will have an 8m wide double seal with 3m wide Traffic lanes. The works includes upgrading the Paru Creek crossing, the section of road to the Paru Community, and improvements to the parking area at the barge landing.

Other - It is being proposed that this Project be delivered as a single select tender to Tiwi Partners (Aust) Pty Ltd. Tiwi Partners was a 50/50 joint venture between the Tiwi Islands Equity Holders and Sitzler Pty Ltd. The Tiwi Islands Equity Holders is made up of the Traditional Owners in the Tiwi Land Council (TLC) who are authorised to represent the interests of the Tiwi Land Council and Tiwi Islands Regional Council (TIRC). The Joint Venture was the result of a process initiated by the TLC and TIRC in 2016 who jointly sought expressions of interest from corporations with interest in and capacity for undertaking infrastructure projects on the Tiwi Islands and beyond. The Tiwi Traditional Owners selected Sitzler Pty Ltd to partner with them in developing long term growth opportunities for the Tiwi and other Indigenous Territorians.
