Consultancy - Provision of Remote Power Technical Advice for a Period of 24 Months

The Department of Industry, Tourism and Trade (DITT) seeks to engage a suitably qualified Consultant to provide expert technical advice on the design, construction and operation of community scale electrical power generation, distribution and control systems to inform planning and implementation activities for the Government’s Remote Power System Strategy (RPSS) aimed at achieving an aggregate 70% renewables penetration across 72 Indigenous communities by 2030. 

The Consultant will be required to undertake detailed analysis and provide advice on existing systems and required upgrades, and, provide advice on proposals for works associated with the integration of small and large-scale renewable energy technologies into community based stand-alone power systems and for communities serviced by third-party power networks.

The Consultant will be required to provide expert advice including technical and engineering advice and reports, to ensure the Northern Territory Government appropriately plans for and manages the procurement of electrical energy services that, amongst other things, will:

·        achieve the Government’s renewable energy goals

·        maintain or improve power security and reliability

·        optimize the use of existing energy assets where possible

·        enable customer/community participation.

The Consultant will work with DITT, its advisors, and other NT Government agencies and corporations, as required, to investigate and analyse issues associated with hybrid stand-alone power system infrastructure design, construction, and operation.

The Consultant will be available for the term of the contract (24 months with a Northern Territory option to extend by 12 months) to provide expert technical advice.
