Darwin Region - Fleming Road - Upgrade and Seal from 3.0km to 8.6km

Fleming Road is a key access road for Douglas Daly region cattle industry to transport livestock to interstate and Darwin Port. The proposed work is to upgrade approximate 5.65km of unsealed section from existing sealed end at approximate chainage 3km to chainage 8.65km to sealed standards, providing better access for local communities and pastoralists to major towns and port. 

Location of works – Fleming Road off Oolloo Road in Douglas Daly Area approximate 100km south of Adelaide River.

This project shall see the upgrade of the existing gravel road to a standard 8m seal over 9m carriageway formation and includes (but not limited to):

•       Identification of underground services, clearing of overhanging vegetative regrowth on the verge and windrows, and reusing gravel from existing windrows

•       works to be conducted under traffic management

•       earthworks, excavation, import and construction of gravel pavements

•       extraction and transportation of water resources

•       construction and maintenance of subgrade layer

•       construction of table and offlet drains as required

•       construction of drainage works including culvert works and floodways, 

•       protection works, project notice boards, road furniture, 

•       sealing of pavements 

•       vegetation clearing is required in gravel pits, on the verge and windrows and works to be constructed within the road corridor under traffic management

•       construction of Temporary detours will be permitted on specific approvals, and

•       Works will also include rectification of Batters and sealing of 0.5m wide shoulders on each side of the previously upgraded and sealed works on Fleming Road between Chainage 0.14km to 2.985km
