Top End - Provision of Emergency Management Works on Remote Housing at Palumpa

The Palumpa community has recently experienced flooding, resulting in water ingress and contamination across residential dwellings.

Initial assessments indicate that affected houses may contain:

•Biological hazards (including sewage contamination and mould growth); and

•Potential disturbance of asbestos‑containing materials, requiring inspection and clearance by appropriately licensed professionals.

These conditions present immediate health and safety risks to residents and restrict the Department’s ability to safely return houses to occupation without specialist remediation and assurance
