Darwin - Provision of Scientific Research on Tropical Oyster Reproductive Conditioning

The Department, through the Darwin Aquaculture Centre, is undertaking Federally funded research on tropical oyster aquaculture. As part of this we are investigating how to bring mature oysters into breeding condition to support hatchery production of juveniles. A provider is required to source 400 mature black-lip oysters and undertake scientific experimentation to inform protocols for hatchery conditioning of broodstock. Experimentation is to be of sufficient standard to be published in scientific literature and provide robust evidence to meet reporting requirements for the Department and the funding body.
