Pirlangimpi - Sewerage Pumping Station Upgrade and New Rising Main

The NTG is investing money to improve the current housing in the remote Aboriginal Communities; this has triggered the requirement to upgrade the existing headworks infrastructure. Pirlangimpi has an existing gravity sewer reticulation system with one existing sewerage pumping station, according to the design review assessment the existing SPS1 has sufficient storage capacity however the pumps and rising main that cannot cater for the ICEG 30 year planning horizon, there is currently no emergency storage exists at the SPS1, also the design report also noted that the existing SPS 1 is in “Very Poor” condition and requires significant refurbishment to extend the life of the asset. During the design review it was noted that the existing rising main is under capacity, and requires upgrading to cater for the new sewerage pumps that are required to cater for the ICEG 30 year planning horizon. The existing rising main is located on the footpath in the community and also passes through community properties, making upgrading on the existing alignment not desirable due to disturbance to the residents
